Solar Sunday on the NYC Science Barge
Check out this awesome event this summer! It is a great chance to not only see some IS buddies but to check out a like-minded organization that is implementing a lot of the systems you studied on the Cape.

When: June 24 at 3-5pm
Where: Pier 84 (West 44th St and West Side Hwy in New York City)
What: Come spend an afternoon aboard NYC's coolest new floating sustainable farm and lab. That's right, see some of the systems we have at The Island School being successfully implemented to make a difference in the Big Apple--from solar power to hydroponics to recycling wastestreams, the Science Barge demonstrates how NYC can move to a more sustainable future. Come get a tour of the barge, hang out with IS friends, and sample some of the delicious crops from the floating garden. Friends and family welcome--please spread the word and RSVP to help us plan.
RSVP TO : Mary Assini maryassini@islandschool.org by June 15th
The Captain John Smith 400 Project
Looking for something cool to do this summer that gets you on the water and thinking about discovery and marine environments? Check out the reenactment voyage of Captain John Smith who ventured up the Chesapeake Bay 400 years ago. You can learn more about the historic impact of his voyage and about the ecosystem changes that have taken place in the Bay. This summer the crew is making over 20 stops so maybe you'll find a convenient place to catch them.
