Greetings from the Island School!
We have been off to a busy start. We have been going non-stop since we arrived here on Friday. This is the last day of our five-day orientation. We have been getting adapted to our new surroundings by getting in touch with nature through SCUBA diving, snorkeling and rigorous morning exercise. We have already developed a good sense of community especially through the advisory system.
On Sunday, we visited the Baptist Church in the Deep Creek settlement. This was a very new and exciting experience for all of us. The congregation's obvious enthusiasm made us feel very welcome. Bishop Nixon told humorous stories to us and was very kind in offering his services to any student who in the future should call upon him.
Most of the students are beginning the process of SCUBA diving certification and preparing for our kayaking trips. We have begun to be introduced to our science projects by snorkeling through a mangrove creek in Davis Harbor.
We all know how much you [parents] want to know how we [your kids] are spending our day to day lives. Tomorrow we will be starting normal classes and begin this schedule:
