Our second week at the Island School has been pretty routine. Our classes have started and some of us have discovered that there is a considerable workload.

No more vacation!

Community Service Begins

Davardo with his mentee

The weekly highlights are as follows. First, we started SCUBA. Right now we are focusing on the science and we start diving in the next few weeks. Next, we went to a school for our first community service project. It's great to finally meet the students that we will be working with. After a lot of waiting and suspense we finally found out what research project we are in. On Thursday, Farmer/Rev. Brown, a local farmer and fisherman, came and spoke about living on the island and some of his life experiences.

Meeting with Farmer Brown in the common room.

We have had some extremely fun and exciting morning exercises, like follow the psycho (Chris Maxey). Today we had activities for two hours - some of the activities were snorkeling at high rock and fly-fishing. Last weekend we were able to choose our querencia, which is a place we go to for reflection and private time. Tomorrow we get a break and get to go to Half Sound for a half day, with some beach lounging and a cookout. Which means no dishes!

On Sunday the first Kayak trips leave, which we are all anxious and excited about.

Miss you all at home
