Unpacking the Van

Hello to family and friends at home! All thirty-one of us arrived here safely last week and since then have been quite busy. Moving in with our luggage (at least 100 lbs overweight) took a lot of time, but everyone is settled in and is beginning to call Eleuthera our new home. We have even adjusted to our very early schedule, waking up at 6:30 for morning exercise.

The first morning, we went snorkeling with our advisor groups at the shipwreck not far offshore. We have also run a few times already. All of us had the chance to Scuba dive, many for the first time.

As part of the curriculum, we are assigned to separate advisor groups with two or three other students. Although we have not begun regular academic classes, we have been kept very busy as you can see.

Morning Exercise as the sun rises

A little entertainment from
Alexei and Jack

Our regular day so far has consisted of a long and tiring schedule. After morning exercise and chores, we eat a well-balanced breakfast prepared by three talented Eleutherian chefs. Mooch, Becca, and Sheryl make the best food! We have also been spending many hours learning important medical training and techniques throughout our one week orientation.

We have taken many trips thus far including a long snorkel through the canal, and a trip to Brittney Island, a sand bar far offshore. As part of our Brittney Island exploration, we are in the midst of completing our first science lab. Things here are off to a good start and everyone appears to be having a good time. We are looking forward to the semester and the new and exciting things we will encounter. Nathan's advisor group rocks.
