Windermere Visit

Lighthouse Beach after the whale

Greetings from your orphaned and forgotten children at The Island School. Long Tall Susan's advisees are here to say, we're keeping things real, in a busy sort of way. Fletcher and Ashleigh will represent, while Gil's back at home, running for school president.

The Breakers are back, and that's a fact. They returned from their kayaking quest, triumphantly no less. They sat waiting for their vans, while washing well-used pans. For Outward Bound needed their gear, as we were the only campers near. We all had a blast, with no encounters with the large fishing boat kind. Our solos were great, we needed the time to unwind.

We are overjoyed to be back with all of our friends, though sadness slowly sets in, as we are so near to the end. No need to worry, no need to fret, for Ben and Tony found us all a new pet. "It's much too large to keep, it's much too bloated," they said. Whales don't make good pets anyway, especially when they're dead. Our posse took a field trip, of the more cryptic type. We were on a mission from God, bury this whale 'fore the smell got too ripe. We were a school of morticians in no time at all, shoving that beast of a whale; we sure had a ball. In a few month's time, we'll go back to the spot and pick up our once bag of slime. We really want the bones, to hang up on our wall, so it must decompose, blubber and all.

We not only see the island, but the island sees us, earlier this week, we had a visit from a bus. It was Windermere coming to scope us out, to see what we are all about. They came for a day of class, too bad it had to pass. Our visit was short, but enjoyed by all, but they'll be back again before next fall. They're invited to our art gallery, our 'rents too, its parent's weekend, get ready for Junkanoo. Costumes are made, the spirit is alive, watch out on the dance floor for our Junkanoo jive. The parents are coming, excitements in the air. Though you may not get many letters, we really do care. Days are winding down, till Mom and Pops appear, we promise to all take showers before we get too near.
