Clean-up after Saturday night

The girls on the porch

Hey "Ya'll,"as Tony tries so hard to imitate Mary Alice and Mina, this is Molly's advisee group!!! That's right the one and only Lauren, Kate D., Mary Alice and Sam, (whose is diligently studying to further excel in mathematics.) Can you believe it? We're half way through the semester and midterms are here. Where has the time gone?!

To fill you in on what's happened since the last update, we started out our week by completing our SCUBA diving certifications at Cathedral Rock. It was about a 50 foot dive and we swam through a hole in the actual coral head. No scary creatures were spotted, oh yea, except for that hammerhead shark that Tony's groups saw . . . but no worries; Tony says they don't mess with us if we don't mess with them. Another exciting experience was meeting the second group of community outreach students. Having already been through this once everyone felt a lot more comfortable and really enjoyed it.

Saturday night was exciting for all the girls here. We were treated to a tikki torch lit dinner, dance, and a movie. Not only was the evening completely planned out by the boys, they also cooked dinner. Everyone was decked out in their finest, even the guys cleaned up nicely. They were perfect gentlemen instead of the usual pirates. They served dinner as live music played in the background. We dinned on extraordinary spiral pasta and grilled chicken with a side of garlic bread and salad. Dinner was followed a brief interlude of dancing. DJ Dave provided the music. The evening ended with Top Gun under the stars.

The long waited for 8-day kayak trips are finally upon us here at The Island School. The first trip is leaving bright and early on Thursday, March 22nd heading towards the Schooner Cays, weather permitting. We will be making our way towards the southern tip of Eleuthera around Lighthouse Point and be going down (North) island as far as we can. During the trip we will have a solo experience. For two days and two nights, we will be completely on our own and we will finally be able to take some time for ourselves and reflect on the time we have here. The teachers say it's a "powerful experience" where we can really get to learn more about ourselves. The other half of the students will be starting the first academic rotation including the exciting down island history trip and lots of research research research! That's all for now, we miss you all.
