Time is flying by fast here on Cape Eleuthera, and we have only two weeks left! Not to worry, we still have plenty of work to do and plenty of experiences to endure before we have to leave this awesome place. Kayak 3 (The Polish Jerry-Rigging Half-Hitchers and the Mung), and Kayak 4 (Sparklers) both returned from their 8 day trips last week, with plenty of hugs and mail to go around. The Sparklers were welcomed back Saturday night with a surprise dance, and unfortunately no water for the guys to take showers. No longer than one day after their return, the whole school has been hit with homework. Students returned to classes on Monday, and academia set back in Between science research papers, presentations, Humanities papers, and preparation for the art gallery. Most of the students on campus have been working non-stop since Sunday.
On Wednesday, the campus practiced for their Junkanoo dance one last time before parents weekend! Wednesday afternoon will be final prep for the art gallery, opening Wednesday night for local students and Thursday for parents. Everyone is really excited for parents weekend to start as well as another 8 mile run in prep for our ½ marathon. That's 13.2 miles! In non-academic news, the past few days have involved exciting events such as the opening of the new chicken coop, and numerous pig chases (OOO-Doggy!) after they have escaped from their pen.
We're all having a blast here at the Island School, as we will be for another few weeks. Keep writing! -the best advisory group, none other than Chris Von's!
