All of the students seem to be in shock that we have already completed half of the semester. Time flies when you're havin' fun! This weekend we welcomed the Board of Trustees to our campus and officially opened the new building, Kinship Hall, which includes the girls' dorm, classrooms, and the library. We were lucky enough to finally christen the first Island School Harkness table and have a wonderful presentation on Natural Capitalism given by Amery Lovins (Natural Capitalism in a nutshell- how to make and save money by utilizing waste). On Saturday night girls North planned the "Civil War" between Girls/Boys North and South. South (the better half) won. Even though Chrissy shoved her entire face in a bowl of honey in an attempt to get a quarter from the bottom, she still lost. We also played pass the orange (no hands) which was really fun. Although chaotic at times, good times were to be had by all.
Last Sunday, we went on our third scuba dive at our deepest depth thus far- 50 feet. Anticipation is building for our dive this Wednesday, after which we will become certified as open water divers. Yipee! This week, the 8 day kayak groups were announced as well, so we are starting to plan our menus for the trip because we will be doing all the cooking ourselves. The first group leaves Monday while the others will continue with their academic rotation. We can't wait!
