Wow— we had a crazy, busy week at the Island School.   It flew by!   On Monday, we got back to the grind and had a regular schedule of classes with everyone together again for the first time in three weeks.   The workload was heavy in preparation for research presentations for the upcoming Parents’ Weekend.   On Tuesday, we began preparation for the Art Gallery Opening and divvied up the tasks for invitations, theme signs, and decorations.   Wednesday morning we finished setting up the art gallery and then had community outreach in the afternoon.   It was good to see our “buddies” from Deep Creek again after about a 3 week break .   Wednesday evening, all of the faculty dressed up and were the honored attendees at our Art Gallery Opening.

On Thursday, our focus really began to wane during afternoon research presentation practice as we began to hear the Twin Air planes flying overhead, landing our parents at the Rock Sound Airport, a mere 40 minutes away.   Being reunited with parents and family later that evening was awesome and we knew that this was only the beginning of what would be a terrific parents’ weekend.   Friday morning, parents arrived to tour campus, meet with advisors and teachers, and attend various lectures.   One of the most thrilling parts of the weekend began Friday evening with Junk-a-noo!   After dinner, all of us ran around getting dressed up in our costumes and loaded on the glitter for the big event.   The band was incredible and the energy of the event was more than we ever thought possible.   It was NUTS!

Saturday morning brought an early rise-and-shine for the parents as they joined us for 6:30am circle and then ran out to High Rock to take the plunge.   That afternoon, many parents went SCUBA diving, kayaking, and snorkeling to get even more of a feel for what life is like at the Island School.   Saturday night, we had our final Celebration Dinner and a coffee house, followed by a slideshow with pictures of the weekend.   The rest of the weekend was dedicated to spending time with parents, traveling to the far ends of Eleuthera in search of nice beaches and warm Bahamian sun.  We included more pictures below; a request from parents who were here this weekend.   We hope you enjoy!
